Gainesville Rapid Response and Ongoing Legal Advocacy
On January 28, 2021, six poultry workers were killed due to a preventable nitrogen leak at Foundation Food Group (FFG), a poultry processing facility in Gainesville, Georgia, which promotes itself as the poultry capital of the world. From the day of this tragic event, Sur initiated a rapid response mode and continues to provide legal services to impacted workers. On the day of the deadly leak, Sur provided a Know Your Rights (KYR) presentation via Facebook Live, which to date has received over 9,000 views.
